Nigeria’s U-15 team has been drawn in Group A of the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival, scheduled to take place in Azerbaijan from October 24 to 30.
The young Super Eagles will face Cyprus, The Gambia, Jordan, Pakistan and South Sudan in the group stage of the new FIFA youth competition.
The tournament will adopt an eight-a-side format, bringing together youth teams from across the world for a week-long festival of football.
Six matchdays have been scheduled, with organisers expecting around 950 matches to be played during the event, involving approximately 3,000 participants.
Unlike the conventional FIFA World Cup format, all participating teams will remain involved throughout the festival rather than being eliminated after a group or knockout stage.
Results from the matches will determine the teams’ placement in different competitive tiers as the tournament progresses.
For Nigeria’s U-15 players, the competition will provide an opportunity to gain international experience against teams from different footballing backgrounds while testing themselves on a global platform.
The tournament is part of FIFA’s efforts to broaden youth football opportunities and provide young players with more international competition.
The inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival will be held in Azerbaijan from October 24 to 30, 2026.
