First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday said the economic hardship facing Nigerians will soon give way to relief, urging voters in the North-Central to support President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027.
Mrs Tinubu, who was Special Guest of Honour at the All Progressives Congress North-Central mega rally held at Lafia Square, Nasarawa State, said a renewed mandate would consolidate the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda.
The rally, described by the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, as the “mother of all rallies”, was hosted by Governor Abdullahi Sule and organised by the North-Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network to mobilise support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Our correspondent reports that thousands of supporters drawn from Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau and the Federal Capital Territory attended the event.
Addressing the crowd, the First Lady said the reforms of the Tinubu administration, though challenging, were designed to reposition the economy and guarantee a better future for families.
She cited interventions in healthcare delivery, road infrastructure and education, including the student loan scheme introduced to improve access to higher education for indigent students.
“A renewed mandate will bring tremendous Renewed Hope and further progress in addressing the challenges facing our nation,” she was quoted as saying.
In his welcome address, Governor Sule declared that Nasarawa State remains fully committed to the APC and would vote for its presidential candidate and all other candidates of the party.
Governors of the zone, who spoke at the rally, said they were backing the President based on what they described as transformations in the economy and other sectors.
The endorsement followed a high-level meeting of North-Central APC stakeholders in Abuja, where leaders agreed to adopt President Tinubu as sole candidate and mobilise for the Lafia rally.
Earlier, the Nasarawa State Police Command had urged political parties to suspend rallies slated for Saturday, October 10, citing security concerns ahead of the First Lady’s visit to Lafia for the APC North-Central Grassroots Mobilisation Movement at Lafia Square.
