The Twenty Indigenous Tribes of the Kauru-Lere Development Association and the Kaduna State chapter of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) have declared support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani in the 2027 general elections.
The groups, at a press conference organised by Gaskiya Network (ASUJ) 2027 in Kaduna on Friday, also endorsed Vice President Kashim Shettima for another term alongside Tinubu and Comrade Jerry Adams in connection with the proposed political leadership arrangement in Kaduna State.
The National Coordinator of Gaskiya Network (ASUJ) 2027, Dr Philibus Audu Nwamagyi, coordinated and sponsored the event, which was convened to present the participating groups’ positions ahead of the 2027 elections.
President of the Kauru-Lere Development Association, Comrade Dogara Randy Dauda, said the endorsement followed consultations and deliberations among representatives of the indigenous communities of Kauru and Lere.
Dauda said the association’s position was informed by its assessment of government policies and interventions in peacebuilding, security, infrastructure, agriculture, transportation and human development.
To him, continuity in governance was important for consolidating ongoing development initiatives, while emphasising the need for improved security, modern security technology and stronger collaboration among security agencies, traditional institutions and community leaders.
The association also cited Governor Uba Sani’s reconciliation initiative of February 25 as a factor in its assessment of the administration, stressing that dialogue, political inclusion and peaceful coexistence were essential for sustainable development.
He, however, called for sustained investment in rural infrastructure, transportation, agriculture, education and youth development.
“Insecurity remained a major concern for rural communities whose livelihoods depended largely on farming and commercial activities.
“But, with machinery out in place by Gov Uba Sani, the situation has reduced drastically and we hope that would be well addressed when they return to office in 2027,” he said.
Similarly, ANCOPSS president in Kaduna State, Jonathan Danbaki, declared the association’s endorsement of Uba Sani for a second term, citing what it described as significant interventions in the education sector.
Danbaki said the association considered school infrastructure development and renovation, teacher welfare, capacity development and the state’s free basic education policy important to improving teaching and learning.
He also highlighted the reported extension of teachers’ service tenure to 40 years of service or 65 years of age, as applicable, and the introduction of rural allowances for teachers serving in remote communities.
The association further cited the approval of a N72,000 minimum wage for Kaduna State civil servants, including eligible secondary school teachers, as part of the administration’s measures affecting workers’ welfare.
ANCOPSS said the initiatives informed its assessment of the government’s performance in the education sector and its decision to support the governor’s second-term ambition.
The press conference brought together representatives of ANCOPSS, the Kauru-Lere Development Association and community development associations under the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU).
