A leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governorship aspirant in Kogi State, Alhaji Saidu Ugonoh, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms and courageous approaches will benefit Nigerians and put the country on path to prosperity.
Ugonoh also commended the presidential campaign organisation for its successful flag-off in Kaduna State, stressing that the turnout showed the commitment of the people to President Tinubu’s continuous push for their well-being.
He added that the President’s interest in the generality of Nigerians should not be trivialised by the antics of the opposition parties whose only aim is to wrest power without properly addressing how they can offer better leadership.
The United States-based businessman, in a statement he issued to journalists, expressed concerns that Nigeria had reached a point when those seeking public offices should clearly define the pathways to clear prosperity, not rhetoric and sentiments that offer no solutions and have stood in the way of progress over the decades .
Alhaji Ugonoh who reaffirmed his support for President Tinubu’s second term bid explained that although economic reforms have often come with pains and hardship , the president’s acknowledgement of those challenges shows sensitivity and urged Nigerians to trust the process.
He pointed out that the campaign of the opposition parties only plays on the intelligence of the people without addressing how they intend to react to the yearnings and aspirations of the people with clear timelines.
According to him ,patriotism and statesmanship entails that those who strive for leadership display honesty and sees themselves as servants and not just people that are hungry for power .
“All over the world , there are pains and challenges of reforms and what is most outstanding is always about what the leadership is doing .
“And in my opinion , President Tinubu has acknowledged these challenges and pains , and what that means is that once a leader is not self delusional ,that leader is concerned and working towards resolving such challenges .
“While I commend the presidential campaign flag-off I want to plead with Nigerians to see the sincerity of this president and allow him a little more time .
“I see the opposition spinning all sorts of things but that is the work of the opposition , they are not expected to commend the President especially in Nigeria . But the people must be able to see that they are merely making certain promises ,including that of subsidy restoration just to gain public applause and grab power .
“I saw a massive turn out at the flag-off. I listened to the president once again and I am appealing that the president means well and should be given more time”.
