Following the election during 23rd Delegates Conference held in Bauchi yesterday, Comrade Dauda Maidara Shu’aibu took over the chairmanship from Comrade Danjuma Saleh.

The conference was an opportunity for members and other stakeholders to appraise the performance of the leaders with a view to charting a new course for the congress through a fresh mandate to the new leadership.

Other elected members are: Ibrahim Maikudi, vice chairman 1; Aminu Bagalinga Aliyu vice chairman II; Jibrin Abdullahi vice chairman III; Mohammed Yunusa, treasurer; Dahiru Aliyu Dadi as auditor; Abdullahi Tafida Bello auditor II; while Muhammad Salisu was elected youth leader.

Comrade Dauda Muhammad Shuaibu urged the state government under the leadership of Bala Muhammad to pay the outstanding retirement benefits to ease the suffering of retired workers.

Shuaibu who is also the chairman of the Joint Negotiation Council (JNC) commended the governor for paying part of the retirement benefits, and appealed for the balance to be paid timely to ease the sufferings of the affected retirees.

He said, “The backlog of retirement benefits inherited from previous administrations runs into billions of naira, with many yet to get their benefits years after retirement.”

“It is a source of pride for one to serve his fatherland and be compensated at the end of his career so as to ease his life and that of his dependents.”

He described the relationship between Governor Bala Mohammed and the organised labour in the state as cordial, saying it has resulted in continuous industrial peace and harmony.
