A pro-northern group, Northern Youth Council (NYC) has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) efforts for the conduct of the 2023 general election.

NYC also commended INEC for the improvement in its logistics and technology deployment during Saturday’s Governorship and State Assembly elections.

The president, NYC, Isah Ododo, who stated this in a press conference while presenting its preliminary findings on the conduct of the election in Abuja yesterday, particularly hailed the use of technology during the elections and lauded the role of INEC’s Information Communication Technology (ICT) during the elections.

Ododo also implored Nigerians to support the commission for introducing technology during the polls.

He, particularly, lauded the introduction of Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) and INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal for the polls.

“We wish to commend the INEC chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu for engaging competent hands in the ICT department of the Commission and conducting a transparent election in the history of the nation.

“We also implore law-abiding Nigerians to throw their weight behind the Commission at every possible time instead of unwarranted criticisms.

“Those who are aggrieved should seek redress and not distract the good works INEC as embarked upon,” he said.

He added that from its lucid evaluation of the commission’s proactive measures before, during, and after the elections, which were substantially free, fair, and credible, it is most reasonable for all candidates to commend the Commission for reinforcing its corporate dignity as an unbiased umpire.
