Residents of Gujba East, a community in Yobe State which comprises five political wards of Goniri, Gotala/Gotumba, Dadingel, Ngurbuwa and Mandunari have alleged neglect by donor agencies in terms of interventions in the areas. They lamented that they are among the major victims of Boko Haram insurgency and deserve donor agencies interventions.

A group, Gujba East Youth Development Forum made the allegation in a press release it issued yesterday through its director of publicity, Comrade Lawan Mustapha.

He said the community is one of the most hit by the insurgency in the state pointing out that in 2015, most residents were displaced and emigrated to various locations in the country.

“Currently, four communities have returned since 2017 leaving one which is Mandunari. Since returning, the locals have no full access to their farms as the remnants of the insurgents are seen here and there and due to restrictions put in place by the army.

“This makes the locals not able to cultivate what they can eat for up to six months and talk less of a year, which puts many into unpleasant situations.

“The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOBSEMA) has sidelined the zone. Over the years, SEMA distributed many food and non-food items in the state but unfortunately, the zone has not benefitted being the most vulnerable.
