The chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Lagos State chapter, and chaplain of the Aso Rock Villa Chapel, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, has urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and optimistic about the nation’s economic future, saying Nigeria was on the brink of a new dawn.

In his Christmas goodwill message to Christians and Nigerians at large, made available by his Special Adviser on Media, Public Relations and Strategic Communications, Rev. Oladapo Daramola, Bishop Adegbite said recent developments indicated that the nation was gradually emerging from its economic challenges.

Reflecting on the reforms introduced by the President, Bola Tinubu, which were aimed at resetting the nation for improved efficiency, productivity and prosperity, the Lagos State CAN chairman said the sacrifices made by Nigerians were beginning to yield positive results.

“Looking back at the challenges of the past few years and the difficult but necessary reforms introduced to reposition the nation, one can confidently say that Nigeria is very much on the brink of a new dawn, considering the remarkable progress recorded so far,” he said.

Bishop Adegbite noted that signs of improvement were becoming evident, citing the gradual drop in food prices and growing stability in the oil sector, which has improved access to petrol and reduced long queues at filling stations. He added that the relative ease with which Nigerians are celebrating Christmas this year was a clear indication that the nation was moving in the right direction.

“What we are witnessing today gives room for objective and reasonable optimism that the sacrifices made by Nigerians were not in vain. It is important that we continue to trust the process,” he stated.

The CAN chairman also described the emerging economic recovery as timely, praising the resilience of Nigerians who have remained steadfast in faith, prayer and hard work despite difficult times.

He called on Christians to demonstrate love, generosity and compassion during the Christmas season, stressing that sacrificial giving lies at the heart of the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.

“Christians must be intentional about giving and sharing, no matter how little, to bring joy into other people’s lives and homes. This is the true essence of Christmas,” he said.

The Aso Rock Villa Chapel chaplain Adegbite further urged Nigerians to remain united and hopeful, assuring them that better days lie ahead. He also reassured President Tinubu and Nigerians that those currently on pilgrimage to the Holy Land, as well as those preparing to embark on the journey, are fervently praying for the full manifestation and sustainability of the positive economic outlook and national progress.
