The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has congratulated Nigerians, particularly Christians, on the occasion of the Christmas celebration, urging citizens to embrace peace, love and unity.
In a statement issued to journalists on Wednesday in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio stressed the importance of spreading love, kindness and generosity during the Yuletide season.
He encouraged Nigerians to remember the less-privileged and extend a helping hand to those in need, noting that the season of Christmas calls for compassion and selflessness.
The Senate President said the life and teachings of Jesus Christ exemplify peace, love and generosity, adding that His birth should be celebrated with joy, hope and togetherness.
“On behalf of my family, constituents, the Senate and the entire 10th National Assembly, I wish to heartily rejoice with our Christian faithful on this joyful occasion of Christmas,” Akpabio said.
“And to our brothers and sisters of other faiths, I invite you to join us in celebrating the birthday of Jesus Christ. I urge you all to exude love throughout this period and beyond. Let us tolerate one another and strive to be one another’s keeper,” he added.
Akpabio also urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and steadfast in the face of the country’s challenges, calling on citizens to pray for peace, unity and national progress.
He expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, stating that the country is on the right path under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Senate President further encouraged Nigerians to continue to support the administration for the realisation of better days ahead.
