The abducted pastor and chairman Board of Trustee (BoT) of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Rev Sunday Bobai Agang, who was kidnapped from his residence in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, has regained his freedom.

The acting public relations officer of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), Danjuma Auta, confirmed the development in a press statement issued to newsmen in Jos.

Auta said Rev. Prof. Agang has been released from his abductors and is currently safe.

“We wish to announce with immense gratitude and joy the release of our dear pastor, Rev. Prof. Sunday Bobai Agang, who was abducted by unknown gunmen.

“We are delighted to confirm that he has regained his freedom and is currently safe,” the statement reads.

ECWA thanked God Almighty for answering the fervent prayers of the entire ECWA family and the global Church of Christ.

The church described the release as a testament to God’s faithfulness and the power of collective prayer.

It also appreciated all brethren who stood in prayer during the trying period.

While rejoicing at the safe return of Rev. Agang, ECWA noted that his ordeal has once again brought to the fore the persistent insecurity in the country.

“The rising wave of kidnapping, which has sadly become a means of livelihood for some, is a threat to our collective existence and must be addressed urgently,” the statement said.

The church called on the government at all levels to rise to its primary constitutional responsibility of protecting the lives and properties of every Nigerian.

“It is imperative that decisive and sustained actions be taken to dismantle the criminal networks behind these heinous acts and restore peace and security across the country,” the statement added.

ECWA said it would continue to pray for the peace of Nigeria and the safety of all citizens.
