Former Head of state General Abdulsalami Abubakar and several state governors across the country have felicitated Nigerians on the occasion of the Eid-el-Fitr, advising them to uphold lessons learnt from the Ramadan fast.

General Abdulsalami Abubakar, the governor of Niger State Mohammed Umar  Bago and the Etsu Nupe Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar urged Muslims  to imbibe the lessons of peace, tolerance and unity learnt within the month of Ramadan to  sustained national peace, unity, and  development .

The three leaders spoke respectively after the two rakats prayers of Eid in Minna, Suleja and Bida.

General Abubakar said Muslims should sustain the lessons of Ramadan of being brothers’ keepers and peace.

Governor Umaru Bago who performed his Eid Prayers in Suleja called on Muslims to remain law abiding citizens and imbibe the spirit of love and tolerance.

The Salanke of Zazzau Suleja, Mal. Abdullahi Kasim led the prayers which was also attended by the Emir of Suleja, Mal. Muhammadu Awwal Ibrahim.

Similarly the Etsu Nupe Alhaji Abubakar  appealed for peace  while addressing his community shortly after the two Raka’at prayers at the Eid praying ground in Bida.

He advised Muslims to continue to uphold the virtues imbibed during the holy month, including piety, love, charity, discipline and compassion, stressing that such values are essential for personal growth and societal harmony.

Alhaji Abba Yusuf of Kano State urged residents to sustain the spirit of tolerance, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence as they celebrate this year’s.

 

The governor in his Sallah message issued by his spokesman, Sunusi Bature, urged citizens to celebrate in a peaceful and orderly manner.

 

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State described the occasion as a time to renew faith, reaffirm unity, and call for peaceful coexistence.

 

He encouraged Nigerians to ensure that the values of patience, compassion, generosity, and humility instilled during Ramadan remain alive.

 

The governor noted that the coincidence of Ramadan with the Christian season of Lent highlighted shared spiritual values of sacrifice, repentance, and devotion among people of faith.
