At the event in Umuahia, the state capital, Mrs Otti said the gesture is in conjunction with the wife of the president, Oluremi Tinubu, under the Renewed Hope Initiative.

Her words: “The programme is designed to provide individuals, especially women and youths, and the vulnerable with skills and resources to harness solar energy for economic and social benefits.”
She said the event, themed “Empowering Abilities: Illuminating MSMEs with Solar Solutions” aims to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) for the beneficiaries.

Furthermore, she explained that the programme seeks to address the country’s power challenges by promoting the use of energy in underserved communities.

“It is also a major focus on empowering women and young people to actively participate in the renewable energy sector, fostering self-reliance and reducing unemployment.”

In a remark, the CEO of TUDU Energy, the producers of the system, Tayo Dudu assured the beneficiaries of a two-year warranty and technical support.

“We will be visiting them in the coming months to monitor their progress. If we discover that any has sold their own, we will take action accordingly,” he warned.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the chairman of the state branch of the Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities expressed their appreciation for the gesture.

Earlier in an address of welcome, the chairman of the State Commission For The Welfare Of the Disabled Persons, David Anyaele described the gesture as unprecedented.
