Wife of Abia State governor, Priscilla Otti has distributed Tubu solar energy systems to 100 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in the state, charging them to use it to improve themselves.

At the event in Umuahia, the state capital, Mrs Otti said the gesture is in conjunction with the wife of the president, Oluremi Tinubu, under the Renewed Hope Initiative.

Her words: “The programme is designed to provide individuals, especially women and youths, and the vulnerable with skills and resources to harness solar energy for economic and social benefits.”
She said the event, themed “Empowering Abilities: Illuminating MSMEs with Solar Solutions” aims to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) for the beneficiaries.

Furthermore, she explained that the programme seeks to address the country’s power challenges by promoting the use of energy in underserved communities.

“It is also a major focus on empowering women and young people to actively participate in the renewable energy sector, fostering self-reliance and reducing unemployment.”

The commissioner for Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection, Blessing Felix said the government had demonstrated commitment to the welfare of PWDs through many channels.

In a remark, the CEO of TUDU Energy, the producers of the system, Tayo Dudu assured the beneficiaries of a two-year warranty and technical support.
