Abia State government is working out a relief package for about 500 victims of South Africa xenophobic attack from the state evacuated from that country.
Depending on each victim’s most pressing need, the package include training, investment, engagement, and accommodation among others.
Executive secretary/chief executive officer of the State Diaspora Commission, Dr. Annie Onu stated this while speaking with newsmen in Umuahia, the state capital.
While describing the relief as part of the government’s youth-friendly, sensitive, and companionate gestures, she condemned South Africa government for the attack.
The former ambassador announced that a database is being designed for all citizens of the state in the Diaspora to coordinate their welfare and ensure their safety.
She urged prospective travelers from the state to abroad to approach her office for proper guidance on visas and friendly countries to avoid sad experiences
The executive secretary/chief executive officer noted that unguided traveling had landed many promising youths from the country in prison and in some cases death.
Onu, who lauded the Dr Alex Otti government in the state for its assistance to the commission, solicited more funding to enable it realize its objectives seamlessly.
She advised the youths to embrace discipline, hard work, self-confidence, creativity, and obedience to authorities to succeed anywhere they find themselves.
