Pankshin local government area of Plateau State has been thrown into sad mood and fury as an aborted set of twins were found at a refuse dump in an area called Special Site.

LEADERSHIP Friday gathered that the aborted children who were said to be a male and a female, and approximately over five months of conception were found in a polythene bag.

Enman Danladi, who lives close to the refuse dump told newsmen how the victims were discovered.

“I am a commercial driver doing town service, and upon returning from work, a man doing irrigation farming behind my house knocked on my door and my wife opened the door. He told me to follow him see something, and we went to the refuse dump and found the dead babies.”

“The man then open the polythene bag and we saw the aborted twins.”

According to the man, as he was working he saw a dog sniffing the bag and flies were buzzing around it. He then became curious and decided to check.

“First he drove the dog away but the dog came back. He then managed to drive the dog far away and approached the polythene bag and found the children, and rush to inform me, since it was at the back of my house,” he said.

Danladi further explained that he immediately called other members of the neighborhood numbering about eight people, and they decided to dig up a small hole and bury the children there.

Before then, he said, curses were laid on anyone who must have perpetuated the act, adding that the men fumed with fury, while the women among them cried profusely, particularly one of the women who has been married for a while but has no child.

When asked whether there is anyone they are suspecting, he said not at all, pointing out that such acts are always carried out by people far from their own area, so that they can’t trace them.

Since that yesterday’s incident, he said, their area has been cold and the emotion can still be felt, particularly among the women.

Asked further, if the matter was reported, he said no, and that it was a collective community decision to bury the aborted children by the refuse.
