The governing council of Ahmadu Bello University at its 205th regular meeting held from 4th-6th December, 2024 approved the immortalisation of the late Dr. Yusufu Bala Usman, Late Prof. Abdullahi Mahadi, and the late Prof. Ezzeldin Mukhtar Abdulrahman in recognition of their significant contributions to the development of Ahmadu Bello University and the nation at large. The Council did this by naming the university’s facilities after them.

The immortalisation of these distinguished personalities followed the recommendations of the vice chancellor, Prof. Kabir Bala, for bestowing such honour on them.

Dr Yusufu Bala Usman was an erudite scholar, a lecturer, an intellectual, a political activist and a one-time Head of the Department of History, National and African Development, Consciousness, and Policy Making. His intellectual contributions have contributed significantly to propelling the former Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FASS) to national and international fame.
