According to the police, Bello had posted a derogatory and injurious message on his Facebook account after his father, Abdulmumin Liman was indicted for allegedly conspiring with members of Yan Ba Beli vigilante group and causing grievous hurt to some residents of Kyata community, Ningi local government area of Bauchi State.

Similarly, Liman consistently refused to honour police invitations following receipt of a complaint against him by his victims. His action sparked an outcry in the community, prompting mobs to attempt to take laws into their own hands but was aborted by the police.
LEADERSHIP Sunday gathered that Abdulmumin’s victims were rushed to Burra General Hospital for medical attention.

Confirming the incident to reporters in Bauchi on Saturday, the Spokesperson of Bauchi police command, Ahmed Wakil said Bello was arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for detention and further interrogation.

“On April 3, 2024, at about 0900hrs, one Usman Adamu, 34 years of Kyata village, a final year student of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a son to the said Abdulmumuni Liman alias “Kwakiya” identified with Facebook user name Adamu Usman Kyata made some defamatory, abusive, injurious, malicious, misleading, harassing, aggressive, frightening, intimidating and inciting remarks and posted on his page against the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) CSP. Danladi Mohammed.

“CSP Danladi Mohammed is the officer who, if not for his prompt and timely intervention, the said Abdulmumuni Liman could have been mobbed by the irate mob and perhaps even killed,” Wakil said.

While confessing to the alleged offence, Usman argued that he made the Facebook post based on hearsay without knowing what transpired and asked the police for forgiveness.
