Air passengers travelling through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, are expected to experience delays following a temporary disruption affecting flight operations at the domestic terminal of the facility.

The management of the airport confirmed on Monday that the disruption was specifically impacting baggage processing, leading to slower-than-usual passenger movement and potential delays in departures.

According to an operational update, the situation was triggered by a technical fault affecting baggage screening equipment within the terminal.

“We understand the inconvenience and uncertainty this may cause, and we truly appreciate your patience during this time,” the airport management said.

To mitigate the impact, authorities said alternative screening procedures have been activated using available equipment to ensure continued safe operations. However, they cautioned that the measures could slow down processing times.

“However, these additional steps may result in longer processing times and possible delays to some departures,” the statement added.

The airport management noted that its ground personnel have been fully deployed to assist passengers, manage affected flights, and provide real-time updates as operations continue.

“Our ground teams are fully mobilised and on hand to support passengers, provide updates, and prioritise affected flights,” it said.

It further assured that efforts were underway in collaboration with relevant airport authorities to resolve the technical issue and restore normal operations as quickly as possible.

“We are also working closely with airport authorities to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and restore normal operations,” the update stated.

The Airport management apologised for the inconvenience caused, urging passengers for patience and understanding while assuring that further updates would be provided as the situation improves.

“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding and cooperation,” it added.
