Osun State chapter of the Accord Party has threatened to drag Daniel Edeachi, the counsel to one Oliver Bitrus, to the Legal Practitioners’ Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) over alleged gross professional misconduct.
Speaking with newsmen in Osogbo, the chairman of the party in Osun State, Victor Akande, accused Edeachi of failure to conduct proper investigations on the state of affairs in the leadership of the party before approaching the court on behalf of Bitrus.
Reacting to the suit filed by Oliver Bitrus and represented by his counsel, Daniel Edeachi, marked FCT/CV/4955/2025, Akande dismissed the claims that a Federal High Court judgment recognised one Prof Chris Imumolen as the national chairman of the Accord Party.
He also dismissed the claim of the purported suspension of one Chief Okey Nwosu as the deputy national chairman, saying there was no time the person held such a post within the party.
Akande accused Daniel Edeachi of failing to observe due diligence and verify the claim of Oliver Bitrus before proceeding to file the suit, as all the claims by the plaintiffs are imaginary and appeared sponsored, declaring that, “This is a conspiracy sponsored by wicked and desperate politicians to distract our party.
“There was no time the court affirmed the suspension of Maxwell Mgbudem as the National Chairman. The suit was properly dismissed by the court last year and has not been appealed against till date. These are facts that should have been verified by Daniel Edeachi before proceeding to mislead the courts.”
Affirming its readiness for the upcoming governorship primary in Osun State, Akande declared that “Our party is ready and not distracted. We held our NWC meeting earlier this week and just two days ago, NEC, the highest decision-making organ of our party, constituted a caretaker committee for Osun state, of which I am the chairman.”
Akande who contended that there was no faction in Accord further disclosed that the party’s NEC also approved the electoral guidelines for the 2026 Osun State governorship primaries, established an Electoral Committee for the exercise and passed a vote of confidence on NWC headed by Maxwell Mgbudem,
