Human rights activist Joe Israel has released a video online showing controversial content creator Odogwu Asaba, pleading for forgiveness in handcuffs following his arrest for the alleged rape of a 20-year-old lady who later committed suicide. In the recorded footage, Odogwu Asaba is seen on his knees in handcuffs, desperately begging the family of the deceased victim to forgive him and drop the case. The suspect pleaded that it was a very terrible mistake and expressed his readiness to give up everything to resolve the matter.
The arrest follows a major public outcry after the young victim reportedly took her own life shortly after the alleged assault. Activists and social media users have since demanded justice, calling on the police to ensure a thorough investigation and diligent prosecution.
The suspect’s plea has sparked heavy online criticism, with many Nigerians demanding that the law take its full course, regardless of his appeals to the family.
Meanwhile, the police command has assured the public that the suspect remains in custody and will be charged to court as soon as preliminary investigations are completed.
