The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved township road projects worth N20.2 billion to be executed by Messrs Triacta Nigeria Limited within a six-month timeframe.
The selected township roads are located in Jada, Hong, Guyuk-Chikila, and Numan local government areas.
The state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. James Iliya, disclosed this to newsmen shortly after the 27th Council meeting chaired by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at Government House, Yola, yesterday.
According to him, the Council also approved a contract for the extension of electricity to Timbo and Naina I & II in Toungo Local Government Area, valued at N509 million. The project was awarded to Raj Synergy Limited and is expected to be completed within eight months.
Mr. Iliya further revealed that the Council approved the release of N1.4 billion as intervention support for communities affected by the 2025 flood and communal clashes across the state.
In addition, he said the Council approved the upgrade of the Ganye water supply scheme at the cost of N619 million. The project includes the construction of solar-powered infiltration galleries, a 2,100HP solar vertical booster pump, a 400,000-litre surface water storage tank, a 3.5-kilometre HDPE transmission line, and an 850,000-litre elevated water tank.
The state government has also approved the procurement of six brand-new 2025 model fire trucks to boost emergency response capacity.
Mr. Iliya noted that the investment was overdue and will enhance firefighting efficiency in Yola and surrounding areas.
The Council equally approved the construction and rehabilitation of Ahmadu Bello Way and Sokoto Street in Mubi town at a cost of N4.02 billion.
Providing further details, Commissioner for Works and Energy Development, Hon. Adamu Atiku Abubakar, explained that the Guyuk and Chikila township roads measure 8.4km, Hong township road 5km, and Jada 4.5km.
He added that the projects were carefully selected under Governor Fintiri’s urban renewal initiative to enhance infrastructure and boost socio-economic development across the benefiting local government areas.
