Adamawa Approves N609bn 2027 Budget

The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved a proposed budget envelope of N609.1 billion for the 2027 fiscal year, with a larger share allocated to capital projects to accelerate infrastructure development and improve public service delivery across the state.

The approval was announced on Friday by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Barrister Leader Leneke, who briefing journalists after the 12th Executive Council meeting of 2026, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Government House, Yola.

According to the commissioner, 54.4 percent of the proposed budget will be devoted to capital expenditure, while 45.55 percent will cover recurrent expenditure, in line with the state’s Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF).

According to him, Council also approved the procurement of biology instructional materials; three-dimensional science laboratory models for 84 secondary schools across Adamawa State for N459.5 million.

He said the project, presented by the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, is expected to strengthen practical science teaching and improve students’ learning outcomes in Biology and other science subjects.

Meanwhile, the council approved N248.27 million for the electrification of Morawa and Zungalewa communities in Demsa local government area to expand access to electricity in rural communities.

Also approved is the engagement of a consultant to conduct a Technical Readiness Assessment for the Adamawa State Rural Electrification Agency.

The assessment is expected to position the state to access about 5 million US dollars in World Bank funding for rural electrification projects.

Also addressing journalists, the Commissioner for Environment Bala Mohammed warned residents living in flood-prone communities to relocate immediately to safer areas, noting that Adamawa is among the states identified as being at high risk of flooding this year.
