Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission has commenced the medical screening for 1,022 intending pilgrims from the state.
The exercise is a mandatory prerequisite for all intending pilgrims participating in the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
The executive secretary of the commission, Mallam Abubakar Salihu, said the screening involves comprehensive health checks and the administration of vital vaccines to ensure the physical and medical wellness of the pilgrims.
He explained that the weekly Hajj orientation programme is ongoing at designated centres where preachers and the commission’s staff provide pilgrims with essential knowledge of Hajj rites, the significance of the journey and proper conduct throughout the pilgrimage.
The pilgrimage to the holy city of Makkah, is one of the five pillars of Islam.
It is a religious obligation that every Muslim is expected to fulfill at least once in their lifetime, if physically and financially capable.
