Employees of the Adamawa State Ministry for Local Government Affairs have bid farewell to Mr Joel Tika, a director of local government affairs, after 35 years of service.
They held a sentforth party in his honour in Yola, the state capital.

At the reception, the ministry’s commissioner, Hon Ibrahim Yayaji Mijinyawa, praised Tika, saying that his contributions to the state’s development are unmatched.

He said, “Tika, a person who worked under our ministry, gave all the necessary contributions to ensure that we achieve success, and having been on this staff for three years, I have seen that.

“In addition to achieving these achievements for Adamawa, Tika is not just a person; after all, he is a person who always works in layers to ensure that we achieve success in everything we do. We thank you, Sir, for all your contributions. We wish you the best.

“So, if you go outside, don’t think like you’re now an outsider; still, you’re an insider,” he said.
Speaking to the media, Tika expressed happiness at the honour given to him by the ministry’s staff. He said, “I thank God for the honour given to me by the staff of the local government ministry, particularly the commissioner and permanent secretary.

“To other employees, such as the director and unit head, I thank you for your support throughout my career, which ended when I quit.

“They honoured me, gave me gifts to show our time together, and enjoyed being with me. I enjoyed it, too. I hope that each of them will finish their work happily,” Tika added.

On his post-retirement plans, Tika said, “There is nothing I will do in the future except agriculture and politics. When the time comes for politics, I will do it.”
