ADC Disowns Mark Factional Headquarters, Warns Public Against “Illegal Usurpation”

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has distanced itself from a factional group that recently announced the opening of a new national headquarters allegedly linked to former Senate President, Senator David Mark.

in a statement, the National Chairman, Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe, the party urged the public, its supporters, and the international community to disregard the development, describing it as an “unauthorized and illegal” move by individuals operating outside the party’s structure.

According to Gombe, the group behind the purported headquarters has “no constitutional, moral, or legal authority” to act or speak on behalf of the ADC.

“The authentic National Working Committee, duly recognized by the party’s constitution and its organs, wishes to state categorically that the group led by Senator David Mark is an aggrieved splinter group operating outside the established structures of the ADC,” the statement read in part.

Gombe added that the building unveiled by the faction as a new national headquarters is “a private facility with no affiliation to the ADC,” stressing that only the directives issued from the party’s recognized national secretariat should be regarded as valid.

He described the move as “a desperate, anti-democratic attempt aimed at causing confusion and misleading the public,” insisting that it violates the party’s internal processes and constitution.

The ADC chairman called on Nigerians, party members, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and the media to continue to recognize only the leadership elected in line with the party’s constitution.

He maintained that the party remains focused on its mission of offering credible political alternatives, despite attempts to undermine its leadership.

“We are currently pursuing all legal and constitutional avenues to restore order and address these actions accordingly. The ADC remains committed to rescuing and rebuilding Nigeria for the benefit of all citizens,” Gombe stated.

The statement was signed by Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe as National Chairman of the authentic African Democratic Congress.
