A former chairman of the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Enugu State Chapter, Barr John Nwobodo has declared that in fairness to INEC, it was obligated to obey the order by the Court of Appeal on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) case.

In an exclusive interview with LEADERSHIP in Enugu, Nwobodo, a former governorship candidate said though tongues were wagging coupled with groundswell condemnation of INEC action, he would not go with the popular sentiments.

Nwobodo said he has profound sympathy for ADC and David Mark over the recent action by INEC derecognizing Mark’s leadership of ADC.

He,however maintained that the controversy borders on the correctness of INEC’s interpretation of status quo ante bellum.

Nwobodo noted that much harm would have been done if INEC had recognised Nafiu Bala Gombe.

“The controversy borders on the correctness of INEC’s interpretation of status quo ante bellum.

“In my view, a dispassionate and purposive reading of the Order reveals that the intendment of the order was to forestall a situation of fiat accompli on the Court.

“If it is accepted that that was the intendment of the order then INEC is faultless.

Much harm would have been done if INEC had recognised Nafiu Bala Gombe.
