ADC Women Leader Faults Abejide’s Suspension

The women leader of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC), Mrs Deborah Maji, has described the suspension of Hon Leke Abejide as fraudulent and mischievous.

Abejide, who represents Yagba Federal constituency in the National Assembly, was declared suspended by the chairman and secretary of the party in the state, Kingsley Ogga and John Adaji Udale.

But addressing a press conference in Anyigba at the weekend, the woman leader and some members of ADC in Kogi East, dismissed the lawmaker’s suspension.

They further demanded serious sanctions against Ogga and Udale for gross misconduct and misinformation.

Speaking on behalf of other members in the area, Maji noted that the alleged suspension of their leader, Abejide, was fraudulent and ill motivated, noting that signatures of members were forged to achieve their selfish end.

She said ADC leaders in the zone will continue to rally behind Abejide, stressing that he made the party popular in the state.

“Hon Leke Abejide is the one that popularised ADC in Kogi state and for the first time, the party was on the INEC ballot for the 2023 Governorship election in Kogi state.

“This is the first in Kogi state since 1999 or the 4th Republic that the party has gone this far. Hon (Dr) Omede Idris, since joining the party and running on the same ticket with Hon Leke Abejide, has been quite supportive to the party and members especially in Kogi East senatorial zone.”
On the purported suspension of Abejide, she called on the party to institute serious disciplinary action on these officers for misleading the party and bringing the party to disrepute.

Her words:” In the press release, signéd by the state secretary, he stated that the suspension was falsely attributed to him and that no such decision was taken by the party”, citing the party Constitution to back it up. At what stage did the ward and Local Government Executive took the decision, that premise on the so called affirmation or approval by the SWC?

“That Press conference is not only playing on members and the public intelligence, but it is quite insulting, gross misinformation and misdirection to charge the duo of Hon Leke Abejide, the member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in National Assembly, and the 2023 Kogi state ADC Governorship candidate, as well as Hon.(Dr) Omede Idris, the 2023 Kogi state ADC Deputy Governorship candidate of what the authors describe as “disloyalty, insubordination, failure to honour the invitation extended to them in lines with the stipulated law of our party since 2023, perpetual breach of the party Constitution, by the two of them” and other listed officials of the party in the said press conference.

She described the move as laughable, misleading self serving and of no consequence.

While reacting to the statement, the Kogi State ADC chairman, Kingsley Ogga, simply said “Hon. Abejide, Dr. Omede Idris and three others remain suspended from our great party for gross misconduct, anti-party activities among other offences.

“Until they are able to defend themselves in line with our party’s constitution, they will remain suspended. No amount of media war can cleanse them of those sins. he said
