Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has tasked the new chancellor of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Mrs Victoria Adunola Samson (BOVAS), to ensure the continuity of good leadership in the institution.
Adeleke, who spoke at the investiture of the group managing director/C.E.O of BOVAS as the 3rd chancellor of the institution on Monday, said leadership is a relay, not a race, adding that every generation is called upon to build on the achievements of those who came before it.
The governor had earlier commissioned landmark projects, including the UNIOSUN Sports Complex, the Science Laboratory, the 750-capacity Adeleke Lecture Theatre, and the 500-capacity lecture hall. He charged the institution’s management to sustain its good works.
Adeleke extolled the virtues of the immediate past chancellor, Apostle Folorunso Alakija, who, according to him, left an enduring imprint on the university.
Earlier, the vice chancellor, Prof. Odunayo Clement Adebooye, expressed his appreciation to Governor Adeleke for making governance easier for the institution’s management, which culminated in the monumental achievements recorded by his administration.
On the appointment of Mrs Samson, Adebooye said the new chancellor meets all the fundamental requirements of a chancellor, given her track record of leadership and service.
In her response, Mrs Samson vowed to join the university to raise, deploy, and build infrastructure that supports both students and faculty members, saying that it is when they are taken care of that they will be able to take care of the student population as a whole.
