Kenneth Omeruo has called upon Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle to focus on rectifying the team’s “leaky defence. The Super Eagles have conceded a total of three goals in their opening two matches at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
In their first game against Tanzania, Nigeria allowed one goal to slip past them, while their defensive line faltered significantly during Saturday night’s encounter with Tunisia, resulting in two goals conceded.
Omeruo emphasised the urgency for improvement in the defensive department as they prepare for upcoming fixtures. “The defence is still porous, and it is crucial that we stop conceding,” he stated during his post-match analysis on Afrosports.
“This is an area the coach must urgently address in the next games. While we know our attack is solid, we cannot afford to keep conceding goals as we have done so far.”
