Supporters of former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, have intensified mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election for the Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency.

The renewed political movement followed the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, as a non-partisan group, Good Governance For Better Abia, organised what it described as a one-million-man march across the constituency in solidarity with Onyejeocha’s bid.

The rally attracted party stakeholders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youths, women groups, and members of the business community, with supporters describing the gathering as one of the largest political mobilisations in the area in recent times. Speaking during the event, Chief Ike Opigwe, former Deputy Chairman of Umunneochi, Hon. Jude Osy Asagwaram, and Alhaji Bubba Abdullahi said the mobilisation was driven by the need to support leaders with proven competence and commitment to development.

According to them, Onyejeocha’s record in public office distinguished her as a credible candidate capable of restoring the constituency’s developmental momentum. “The time has come for all hands to be on deck for the restoration of the lost glory of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi,” the group stated, adding that the constituency must present “its best eleven” ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Responding to the show of support, Onyejeocha thanked the people for their faith in tested leadership and quality representation. She pledged to continue championing people-oriented policies and programmes that would improve infrastructure, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and rural development across the constituency. The former minister also urged residents to sustain their support for the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the next general elections. Onyejeocha represented Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2007 to 2023 before serving in the Federal Executive Council. During her legislative career, she sponsored notable bills, including the Compulsory Treatment and Care for Victims of Gunshot Act 2017, the Anti-Torture Act 2017, and the National Senior Citizens Centre Act 2018. She also facilitated several constituency projects, including rural electrification, road construction, school rehabilitation, healthcare centres, solar-powered boreholes, and youth empowerment initiatives.
