Following Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan’s (APC, Borno Central) cash distribution, House of Representatives member representing Borno Central, Abdulkadir Rahis, has disbursed N26 million to 442 APC executives in the Maiduguri Metropolitan Constituency.

Rahis, who won the APC primary with 20,509 votes, said the money was meant for Sallah celebrations and was part of his tradition of supporting party loyalists during festive periods.

The gesture follows Lawan’s recent donation of N135.65 million to APC executives in the same constituency.

The event drew party executives, ward officials, and stakeholders from across the constituency.

Both lawmakers said the funds were meant to strengthen party structures and support members during the Sallah period.

The public display of cash has sparked mixed reactions, with supporters praising the gesture while critics raised concerns over money politics and undue influence ahead of the 2027 elections.

If elected, Hon. Rahis would serve his fifth consecutive term in the Green Chamber. He secured the seat after serving five terms as chairman of the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council.
