The Federal Government has dismissed recent claims suggesting imbalance and favouritism in federal appointments, reaffirming the Bola Tinubu administration’s commitment to equity, fairness, and national unity.

In a statement issued on Friday by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), the government described the allegations, particularly those circulating on social media, as “unfounded” and “tendentious.”

The statement emphasised that all appointments under the administration of President Tinubu, were made in strict compliance with the Federal Character principle, as enshrined in Section 14 of the 1999 Constitution (as altered).

“The Government categorically refutes claims of lopsidedness and emphasizes its unwavering commitment to the principles of fairness, equity, and national unity,” the statement read.

It further highlighted President Tinubu’s belief in the unity of Nigeria and his consistent adherence to the ideals of justice and inclusivity in appointments across the country’s institutions and agencies.

“The Administration is dedicated to ensuring that all regions and demographics of the country are adequately represented,” said Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations in OSGF, who signed the statement on behalf of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

The government urged citizens to rely on official channels for accurate information and to disregard what it described as deliberate attempts by “pokers of embers of hate and disunity” to mislead the public.

Reiterating its resolve, the OSGF assured Nigerians that the Tinubu administration remains focused on building a united, prosperous, and equitable nation in line with its Renewed Hope Agenda.

Inquiries regarding federal appointments, the statement added, should be directed to the OSGF, the official custodian of such records.
