Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) operating under various support platforms have petitioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to reconsider the continuation of Senator Ajibola Bashiru, as the party’s national secretary ahead of the forthcoming national convention.

The petitioners, who identified themselves as members of APC support groups and allied movements within the party, said their appeal was aimed at strengthening internal cohesion and ensuring unity within the ruling party as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.

Among those who appended their names to the petition are Muibat Salawu of the APC Restoration Movement, Suleiman Ibrahim of APC Sure Bet 2027, and Nnalekwu Shuaibu of the Tinubu 2027 Alliance.

The groups expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and performance in office but urged him, as the national leader of the party, to take steps they believe would enhance harmony within the APC.

In their submission, they called for a review of the position of the National Secretary at the convention, arguing that the office plays a critical role in party administration and grassroots coordination.

The petitioners maintained that their request was made in the interest of party stability and electoral success, stressing the need for inclusiveness and broad-based engagement among party stakeholders.

They said the APC, as the ruling party, must prioritise internal unity and consensus-building as it approaches another electoral cycle.
