Ahead Of Q1 Delivery Date, Lokpobiri Inspects Warri Refinery

The minister of state for petroleum resources (Oil), Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri has assured that everything possible will be done to ensure that the Warri refinery project is completed and delivered on schedule.

The Warri refinery is expected to commence production by the end of the first quarter of next year.

The minister who gave the assurance while inspecting work progress on the ongoing Quick-Fix Project in the refinery, yesterday.

Lokpobiri, in company with the group chief executive officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Mele Kyari, were in Warri Refinery for the 13th Refineries’ Rehabilitation Steering Committee Meeting, the NNPC said on its social media handle on Friday.

In a related development, Lokpobiri, in company of his counterpart, minister for State Petroleum Resources (Gas), Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, on Thursday, embarned on a field inspection of the progress of the OB3 gas pipeline project, crossing the River Niger.

Commenting on the project, Lokporibi said on his social media handle, called on the contractors and other relevant stakeholders to fast-track the completion of the project, pledging to render every necessary support that might be needed.

“It is worthy of note that work on the project has progressed appreciably and I am delighted about that. While calling on the contractors and other relevant stakeholders to fast-track the completion of the project, I pledged to render every necessary support that might be needed.”

According to him, the completion of the 130 kilometres/48 inches Obiafu-Obrikon-Oben Gas Supply pipeline, will no doubt complement President Bola Tinubu’s efforts in the supply of gas across the nation, especially now that the nation is tending towards CNG as an alternative to PMS.

“Mr President’s commitment to increasing production is a top-notch objective of the Ministry therefore, I considered this as a mission to rekindle the nation’s hope of boosting gas supply for power generation and we will continue to engage all stakeholders to ensure its fruition,” Lokpobiri said.
