Special adviser to Kogi State Governor on Labour Matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka, has commended his principal for paying special attention to the welfare of workers in the state.
He told newsmen yesterday in Lokoja, the state capital, that the governor’s attention on workers welfare had been unique, stressing that he had fulfilled his promises without any agitation.
Edoka said the cash-backing of promotions from 2019 to 2022 was a fulfillment of the promise Ododo made last year having completed the payment of 2025 leave bonuses to the workers.
“It is gratifying to note that the governor has again cash backed promotions, which, he promised to do and he has done it. As we speak, the government is not owing workers, we are proud to identify with the administration. This is true democracy in action, where everyone has a sense of belonging,” he said.
Edoka explained that the government had implemented a 100 percent for health workers, paid full salaries to local government employees, offered free health insurance to the workers and other categories as well as other friendly policies, noting that that Governor Ododo was the first to implement the recent national minimum wage for the workforce.
While felicitating with the government and people of the state on the second anniversary of the governor in office, Edoka appealed to the workers and other residents to support the government to deliver more projects and programmes to them.
