The passenger at the centre of the recent Lagos Airport incident involving Ibom Air, Ms. Comfort Emmanson, failed to attend a scheduled meeting with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Wednesday.

The meeting, which was part of the ongoing investigation into the August 10, 2025 incident aboard the Ibom Air flight from Uyo-Lagos, held at the headquarters of the NCAA in Abuja.

Staff of the Aviation Security (AVSEC), the Ibom Air cabin crew on duty on the said day and some other relevant stakeholders were at the meeting, but Ms Emmanson was conspicuously missing.

LEADERSHIP investigation showed that she missed the meeting because she was not ready for any flight issues at the moment.

It was also discovered that the NCAA had arranged for her to have her meeting in Lagos so as to forestall any drama that could happen at the airport for now.

According to a source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, “The meeting held and it was basically to hear their side of what actually happened. But Ms Emmanson did not come possibly because of the flight ban issues and airport drama. The interaction with her would be in Lagos. It’s part of a holistic investigation.”

Recall that NCAA director of public affairs and consumer protection, Michael Achimugu, had revealed on Tuesday that the Authority had spoken with Emmanson and had invited her, the cabin crew and all those involved in the incident for further investigation on the incident.

Achimugu said that further investigation by the NCAA on the incident would shed more light on the incident, which gained traction on social media recently.

According to him, “I have spoken with Ms. Emmanson this morning (Tuesday). We are also inviting the Ibom Air cabin crew for continued investigation on the incident. They will be here tomorrow (Wednesday).”
