Nigeria’s emerging swimming star, AbdulJabar Adama, has once again made waves at the just ended 16th Africa Junior Swimming Championships (AJSC) held in Cairo, Egypt.

Following his record-breaking performance in the 50 metres butterfly on Wednesday, the 16-year-old sensation achieved yet another milestone by setting a new record in the 50 metres freestyle.

Adama’s remarkable time of 12.54 seconds not only secured him the gold medal but also shattered the previous record of 22.65 seconds.

The young sensation also won gold in 100m freestyle — and added a bronze to complete a four-medal haul for Nigeria.

His 50m butterfly victory was particularly spectacular, as he broke the championship record twice in one day, clocking 23.89 seconds in the final after a record-breaking 24.19 in the heats.

Although he didn’t surpass his personal best or the championship record in the 100m freestyle, Adama’s pace was more than enough to bring home another gold for West African nation.

His consistency, power, and poise in the pool have earned him continental recognition and established him as a future star of African swimming.

With this outstanding achievement, Adama has significantly contributed to Nigeria’s medal tally at the championships, bringing it to four—three golds and one bronze—all thanks to his exceptional individual performances.

As the curtains fall on the championship yesterday at the world-class Egypt International Olympic City Aquatic Centre, Adama’s performance stands as one of resilience, talent, and emerging dominance in African aquatics.
