Akwa United head coach, Fatai Osho says Saturday’s Nigeria Premier Football League matchday 11 encounter against Kwara United is a must-win for his side.
The Promise Keepers have endured a slow start to the 2023/24 season, having recorded just two wins from 10 games.
The former champions are languishing in 17th position on the table.
Osho reckoned it is important for his side to win the game and move up the table.
“Our game on Saturday is another opportunity for us to redeem ourselves by going for all three points. We know that it won’t be easy but we are ready and determined to fight for the maximum point,” Osho told the club’s media.
“After ten rounds of matches, we are at the wrong end of the table and we want to get out of that zone as quickly as possible, so all matches are a must-win for us, beginning from this one against Kwara United because we cannot afford to drop any more points, especially at home.”
Previous encounters between Akwa United and Kwara United have been evenly balanced.
The two clubs have met 14 times, with five wins apiece while four of those encounters ended in draws.
Kwara United have never won on Akwa Ibom soil in each of their last eight visits comprising five defeats and three draws.
