The Saudi Arabian champions are trying to bring in a high-profile signing to replace Neymar.

Neymar’s current contract expires at the end of this season.

Al Hilal will tempt Salah with the offer of being one of the star names at the expanded Club World Cup in the USA in June and July.

Although Salah will be a free agent this summer, he is free to open negotiations with foreign clubs since the start of this month.

Liverpool rejected a £150m offer for Salah from another Saudi Arabian side, Al Ittihad, in August 2023.

The chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, Turki Alalshikh, on Wednesday uploaded a mocked-up picture of Salah in an Al Hilal shirt on Facebook.

He enjoys a close relationship with the Kingdom’s de-facto ruler Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Alalshikh has masterminded Saudi Arabia’s huge investment in boxing but he is also known to have links with Al Hilal.
