The Management of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (AE-FUNAI), Ebonyi State, has announced the immediate withdrawal of the admission offered to the sacked Senior Special Assistant to the Ebonyi State Governor on Security (Ebonyi North), Mr. Felix Okemini, over alleged cult-related activities.

In a letter signed by the Registrar/Secretary to Council, Mr. Ifeanyi Igwe, a copy of which was made available to LEADERSHIP on Tuesday, the University said that the withdrawal followed Okemini’s unruly display and conduct suspected to be cult-related with a faceless and unknown group within the university campus on March 14, 2025, immediately after the university matriculation event.

Igwe noted that the University Management set up a committee to investigate the circumstances of the alleged misconduct, adding that the sacked govenor’s aide appeared before the panel and explained his own side of the story.

The letter read, “Following your unruly display and conduct in a manner suspected to be cult related with a faceless and unknown group within the University campus on 14th March, 2025, immediately after the University Matriculation Ceremony, the University Management set up a Committee to investigate the circumstances of the alleged misconduct.

“You appeared before the Investigative Panel and explained your side of the story. The Committee took note of your responses and observed as follows, that you were offered provisional admission to read Political Science in the University during the 2024/25 academic session.

“That you were spotted chanting songs and displaying actions and insignia suspected to be linked to cult confraternity during the Matriculation ceremony.

“That you are yet to register fully and obtain Matriculation Number as a student of Political Science of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike.

“That the University abhors cultism and your behaviour elicited some security concerns to the University Community which was unexpected of a new student of the University.

“That your behaviour was cult related and in breach of the Matriculation Oath which you took on that day.”

The statement noted that in line with the report and recommendation of the Investigative Panel, the Management on behalf of Senate has directed that Okemini’s admission into the University be withdrawn.

The University further directed Mr. Okemini to hand over every University property in his possession to the Chief Security Officer or Dean Students’ Affairs and stay away from the University premises/campus.

“All University functionaries are by a copy of this letter informed of this development and are expected to ensure compliance,” it added.
