The Coalition of Kunav Groups, comprising 11 community associations from Governor Hyacinth Alia’s hometown, has vowed to resist any act of violence and threats by mischief makers aimed at breaching the peaceful coexistence of Benue people and distracting the governor.
This is even as the governor’s kinsmen also asked detractors out to tarnish the governor’s image to steer clear, saying, “We are all out to tackle those enemies of progress headlong.”
Presenting their position, the president of Club de 8, Dr. Peter Anule , warned individuals, groups, and associations bent on destroying and distracting the government of Alia to desist or face stiff resistance by the governor’s kinsmen.
According to the Coalition, “this press conference tag: ‘Alia’s Vision for a new Benue: Kunav Groups Support is to reaffirm our commitment and support for Governor Alia and as well tell Nigerians, particularly the Benue people and mostly the enemies of the State that we the Governor’s Kinsmen are solidly behind him.
“Governor Alia is doing well, in all spheres of development and we are here to present the position of the Kunav people that any Kunav Son or daughter no matter highly placed following the band wagon of enemies of the State to destroy Alia’s government will be reprimanded.
“We also commended the Governor for his developmental strides to put Benue on the global map which includes, revival of the Governor’s Cup, construction of township and rural roads, underpasses, timely Payment of Salaries and Pensions, approval of new minimum wage above the Federal Government’s proposal, renovation of the State Secretariat and State House of Assembly complex, modernization of the Aper Aku Staduim among many others.
While condemning the kidnapping of the president general of Kunav United Development Association (KUDA), Deacon Tor Yaji, the groups commended the security agencies for a quick response which led to the rescue of the president.
