All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to receive Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State into its fold.

The national chairman of the party, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, made the disclosure after a well-attended stakeholders’ meeting at the Crest Hotel in Jos yesterday.

According to him, the party will organise a colourful reception for him to show that the entire state is now APC with his coming on board.

Nentawe maintained that Governor Mutfwang’s joining the APC will galvanise, consolidate and strengthen the party in the state.

He remarked that he is interested in everybody that matters in the country who wants to join the Party, adding that he will ensure that APC wins future elections from top to bottom.

He saidt the present executive councils across the country have been transmuted into caretaker committees and that their tenure will end in March next year.

The APC chairman urged all members of the party to participate in the e-registration to be bona fide members.

Also at the occasion, Senator Simon Lalong praised the party members for their resilience, faithfulness and support for the APC in the State.

Senator Lalong, who is also the Party leader in the State, allayed the fears of the members in view of the recent development, describing them as unnecessary.

In his welcome remarks, the  State Chairman of the Party, Hon. Rufus Bature, assured that members of the APC will continue to respect the decision of their leaders.

Meanwhile, Senator Diket Plang, representing Plateau Central in the National Assembly, has disclosed that Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) is an excellent move and a welcome development.

Senator Plang stated this while fielding questions from newsmen in Jos, the Plateau state capital, on Monday.

He maintained that “As a member of the National Assembly, I need to have a President, Governor who is on the same page with me. Lobbying at the national level takes on different forms.

“There are times you need your Governor to stand by you. For instance, when I wanted to attend the University of Mines, Mining and Geosciences, I required a governor. I needed everybody at the party to support me.

The Senator further pointed out that when you have a President and Governor all from the ruling party, lobbying becomes easier for members of the legislative arm.

“For me, if at any time we have a governor in the same party as me, my ability to lobby will be much better.

According to him, as a people, we are not particularly ideological in terms of party affiliation. It is more about interest. If the interests of the governor and the interests of the ruling party collide in the same place, it will be beneficial to all of us.

He argued that if the coming of Governor Caleb Mutfwang to the ruling APC will be an added advantage to the people of the State, then it is an excellent move.

“We will accept him, work with him and support each other to ensure the party gives its best. Now we have a President, a Governor, a National Chairman, and Senators like me all in the APC. We should be able to provide the best to the state, I think it is advantageous, he said

Speaking on the uproar that trailed the Governor’s defection, he said, “During the period of political struggle, people act to protect their interests. Those who feel otherwise are not necessarily wrong.

The Senate Committee chairman on Labour and Employment further stated that during elections, everyone does their best to express themselves. When that does not succeed, and a decision is made, there is a need for collaboration.

“As a party, we move as a group. The Governor was a member of the PDP, but is now a member of the APC. We must work together for the soul of APC.

“Anyone who said yes or no had the opportunity to express themselves. But once the party at the national level and the ruling government have accepted him, we now have a common denominator to work together, Plang said.
