Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairman, Hon Christopher Maikalangu, has announced the dissolution of the AMAC Marshal, an indigenous community security outfit created by the previous administration under Hon Abdullahi Candido.
In a statement signed by the senior special assistant on media and public affairs to AMAC chairman, Kingsley Madaki, Maikalangu, in its place, ordered the AMAC task force to take over from the Marshal and ensure internal security and assist technical partners in ensuring revenue generation to the council.
The chairman, after an Executive Council Meeting (ECM), said the task force will be trained to ensure they discharge their duties professionally.
The chairman who was represented by the supervisory councilor for Special Duties, Hon Emmanuel Inyang said, “We inherited some agencies and parastatals from the previous administration, including the AMAC Marshal. Indeed, they have been doing their best and we feel we should energize it the more and add to the security, considering what the Marshall was expected to be doing.”
Maikalangu said the essence of the executive council meeting was to do a review of their activities at the council to ensure that dividends of democracy reach AMAC residents in different communities.
