Maikalangu who made this known yesterday while joining Wonderwoman Nigeria and Psi Nigeria to celebrate the World Menstrual Hygiene Day, stressed the importance of menstrual hygiene among women.

The World Menstrual Hygiene Day is meant to raise awareness of the importance of menstrual health, hygiene, and environmental sustainability.

The chairman also used the occasion to commission plastics for pad collection point at the gate of the council’s secretariat.

The collection centres are also located in 24 other areas within the council including major markets like Karmo, Utako, Karu, Kurudu and Pbegi junction among others.

Earlier, the vice president of Wonderwoman Nigeria, Ann Dirkly, said, “We are thrilled to launch a new plastic waste collection point, a significant step towards reducing waste and supporting menstrual health for girls in need.

“As we come together, we acknowledge the struggles of millions of girls and women in Nigeria who face period poverty, stigma, and shame. We recognize the impact of improper plastic disposal on our environment and the need for collective action.
