A United States-based socio-economic organization in New York, the African and Middle-East Economic Sustainability Alliance (AMEESA), yesterday honored the immediate past Executive Assistant on Communications to the Governor of Delta State, Chief Barr. Dr. Fred Oghenesivbe Latimore with a Pacesetter Award in recognition of his exceptional dedication to improving public services through result-oriented Strategic Communication and Diplomacy.

Earlier in a letter signed by the Special Envoy to Nigeria, His Excellency, Ambassador Oluwagbenga David, conveyed the unsolicited intention of the Organization’s Board led by the Founding President H.E. Ambassador Dr. Nakiim Bey, noting that “as the transition in various government offices deepens in 2023, the Pacesetter Award is our etiquette of the accolade for government stakeholders in Africa and Middle East, whose initiative, courage, perseverance and excellence convey the strength of character, and qualities of leadership that make them Pacesetters.”

Presenting the award in the State Capital Asaba, was the Representative of the Special Envoy to Nigeria, Hon. Dr. Wilson Ekwerekwu alongside members of the Organization, attributed the award to Dr. Latimore’s indelible and professional skills in management and dissemination of information particularly against antics and propaganda from opposition parties which helped in averting youth restiveness and violence during the 2023 elections in Delta State.

“AMEESA’s Awards accords the opportunity to complement and intensify your efforts in improving public services as it spans full respect for human rights, multi-actor partnership, political pluralism, political empowerment of people, equity, sustainability, and attitudes and values that foster responsibility, solidarity, and tolerance.”

“Your involvement in advancing community cohesion and promoting civic awareness, setting a pace that models a way for others to follow is impressively overwhelming and you’re by this Award, welcome to our headquarters in New York, for an all-exclusive interview targeted at fostering solutions to socio-economic issues in Nigeria”.

“After ardently reviewing your performance in the purview of your office as the Executive Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Communications, and the Spokesperson of your political party during the electioneering period, you unsolicitedly merited our PACESETTER AWARD, this is to however, encourage and motivate you and your team in discharging your duties to the public interest”, the Special Envoy said.

The Communication Strategist, Oghenesivbe Latimore, was therefore decorated with the AMEESA Merit Award Medal, Certificate, and other souvenirs by the Representative of the Special Envoy to Nigeria for African and Middle East Economic Sustainability Alliance, Hon. Dr. Wilson Ekwerekwu and the Special Attachè to the Founding President, Barrister Elizabeth Ekwerekwu.

In his remark after receiving the Award, Oghenesivbe said that the AMEESA Pacesetter Award was the third in the series of Awards after the 2023 general elections, adding that he received a total of twelve Awards while serving as Executive Assistant on Communications under the Okowa administration.

He appreciated the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, for providing the platform, and the enabling environment, and for approving and funding several capacity-building workshops and Professional Doctorate Degree Programme in Strategic Communication and Information Management, which further sharpened his professional skills for result oriented service delivery.

He urged AMEESA to find ways and means of partnering with the Delta State Government, in the area of poverty alleviation and co-funding of youth empowerment programs, such as Rysa, Step, Yagep, and Girl Child Projects, being an intergovernmental organization responsible for economic sustainability in Africa and the Middle East.

He added that the M.O.R.E agenda of the State Governor, Rt Hon (Elder) Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, is people focused in terms of human capacity development, youth, and women vocational training and empowerment, that it will be ideal if the organization partners with the State Government, to take more of the people from the already congested labor market.

“Governor Oborevwori is very much interested in upscaling the number of youth and women that would benefit from these programs subject to availability of funds, which is why your involvement and partnership will go the extra mile to expand the net and substantially increase the number of beneficiaries”, he averred.

Dr. Oghenesivbe Latimore is a full member of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, NIIA, and a Distinguished Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management, Dcism. The Award ceremony was attended by some members of the Coalition for Media Politics and Governance, CMPG, Asaba Delta State.
