AMVCA 12: Bovi, Nomzamo Recreate Funke Akindele-Toyin Abraham Viral Snub

Nigerian comedian Bovi Ugboma and South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha sparked reactions at the 2026 edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards after recreating the viral snub involving Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham.

While hosting the awards ceremony, Bovi approached Mbatha in a comedic skit that mirrored the now-viral moment between Akindele and Abraham at the premiere of ‘The Return of Arinzo’ in March 2026. The original incident, in which Akindele appeared to ignore Abraham publicly, quickly became a major online talking point and fueled conversations about the actresses’ rumoured rivalry.

The AMVCA reenactment drew loud laughter from the audience and quickly became one of the night’s standout moments.

Reacting to the joke after the event, Toyin Abraham approached Bovi and jokingly told him, “I knew you were going to crack that joke, but I am not going to lie, that was funny.”

Although the exchange appeared lighthearted, it also referenced the lingering tension surrounding the actresses. Following the original incident, Akindele and Abraham reportedly unfollowed each other on social media, while actress Iyabo Ojo accused Abraham of violating a peace agreement with Akindele.
