Layi Wasabi, who is winning his first award in AMVCA, defeated Adebola Adeyela (Lizzy Jay) in
National Treasure, Elozonam Ogbolu, Lina Idoko and Jemima Osunde in
Hello Neighbour and Apaokagi-Greene in The Boyfriend of Maryam.

The budding talent, who spoke to select journalists, said it was of great honour for him to win the AMVC award as he had put a lot of work into his craft. He commended fellow nominees in the category as well and urged all creatives not to give up on their dreams.
