The leadership of the Ezinano community in the Awka-South local government area of Anambra State has distributed N50 million to women farmers in the area to improve their farming activities.

Leader of the community, Ozo Jeff Nweke, who announced the gesture during the community’s cultural celebration, said another group of the natives would benefit from another N50 million gesture in December to improve on whatever they are engaged in to earn a living.

He emphasised the community leadership’s commitment to ensuring that the natives are supported in engaging in agriculture and other genuine sources of sustenance.

Ozo Nweke bemoaned the level of moral decay among the youths and tasked parents to watch the behaviour and activities of their children, tasking them to inculcate good morals in their children.

Ozo Nweke announced during the cultural celebration held weekend at the community’s Ogbugbankwa square that his leadership of the town would end in December this year. He urged his people to be ready to support his successor to ensure the continued development of the town and improvement of the people’s welfare.

Also, in his speech, another prominent leader of the town, Chief Arinze Ekelem, condemned what he described as an increasing “crime wave and youth restiveness” in most communities and lamented that this was because many no longer want to engage in meaningful sources of livelihood.
