A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay, has thanked President Bola Tinubu for implementing an open and transparent process in the 2024 licensing round of oil blocks launched in May 2024.
According to him, the exercise allowed the successful bid of Isoko sons’ companies, namely High Chief Emonena Victor Eguka, popularly known as Wayles, chairman of Dewayles International Limited and Chief Henry Ojogho, chairman and founder of Broron Oil and Gas Limited.
Comrade Macaulay, a former Secretary to the Delta State Government and holder of the traditional title of Okiroro of the Isoko Nation emphasised that President Tinubu’s singular act of providing a level playing field for all bidders enabled the Isoko sons to successfully bid and win the oil blocks.
According to him, this was a clear break from the past when oil blocks were allocated for other reasons rather than merit. Comrade Macaulay noted that this was a landmark achievement for the Isoko Nation.
He called on Nigerians who are critical of the president’s reform agenda to exercise a little patience for the positive result to manifest.
Comrade Macaulay also appealed to President Tinubu to apply the same principle of fairness and equity to give prompt recognition to Isoko sons and daughters through federal appointments in his administration. According to him, Isoko remains the only ethnic nationality with no federal appointment despite her huge contributions to the nation’s economy.
