An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Nasarawa State, Reyyanu Iliyasu, has appealed to parties in the lingering leadership crisis in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly to embrace peace.

Speaking with the journalists in Lafia yesterday, Iliyasu said the crisis was needless and uncalled for, especially as key actors belong to the ruling party.

He said it was wrong for a party in the crisis to have gone against the choice of Governor Abdullahi Sule, even after meeting and discussing with them.

He noted that the governor and the party are superior to any individual member, adding that the crisis wouldn’t have escalated if members obeyed the collective party decision on the matter.

Iliyasu commended Governor Sule for the ongoing effort in resolving the impasse and move the state on the path of development and growth.

“As a stakeholder, I want to lend my voice by appealing to all parties to sheathe their swords and respecting the position of our amiable leader, Governor Abdullahi Sule and the party’s leadership.

“I want to commend the governor and the party leadership for convening a stakeholders caucus meeting which reviewed all issues affecting the party and taking a stand towards resolving same.

“Above all, I want to appeal to all parties in the crisis to accept the resolution of whatever body set up by the stakeholders to resolve the problem.

“The first thing they need to do towards arriving at a lasting peace is to withdraw the respective cases pending in courts to enable the party handle and bring the crisis to an end,” he said.
